Mary Jane Westberg, age 85, of Merrill, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2016 at St. Clare’s Hospital, Weston. She was born May 2, 1931 in Marshfield to the late Cyril and Louise (Scherr) Eckes. On May 10, 1952 MaryJane and Carl Westberg were united in marriage. He survives.
MaryJane graduated from Marshfield High School. MaryJane was a stay at home mother until her children were all attending school. After that, she worked for 30 years as a CNA at Pine Crest Nursing Home where she eventually retired. She enjoyed quilting, knitting, sewing, camping, gardening and canning. MaryJane loved quilting with the Habitat Club, she knitted caps and mittens for premature infants and lap quilts for children in the hospital. She was kind, sweet and very easy to talk to. Because of her caring nature, she also volunteered at Bell Towers. MaryJane was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her husband, Carl Westberg, of Merrill; three daughters: Carla Hartwig, Paula Molitor, and Lisa (fiance Jim Butler) McAllister, all of Merrill; son: Carl Randy Westberg Jr, of Merrill; four grandchildren: Amanda Molitor, Paul (Stacy) Molitor, Shawn McAllister and David Woller; five great-grandchildren: Jerrissa Konyn, Jerrick Konyn, Vanessa Birch, David Woller Jr. and Taylor Woller; one sister: Glendine Hamilton, Arizona; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cyril and Louise Eckes, two granddaughters, Jessica Hartwig and Jerrica Woller, son-in-law, Kelley J. Hartwig, and a brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Mary Eckes.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 12 noon on Friday, July 1, 2016 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Father Chris Kemp will perform the funeral liturgy. Visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of service, also at the church. Inurnment will follow in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.
