Felony theft charge for Merrill man, following rather ‘resourceful’ attempt at shoplifting

Jeremy B. Muow, 27 of Schofield- was charged June 6 with Felony Retail Theft ($500-$5,000)
According to court records, Muow was reportedly involved in a shoplifting incident in the city of Merrill during which he reportedly placed a car stereo inside the box of an inflatable air mattress; wrapped a car stereo amplifier and wiring kit inside a heated blanket which he paid for and fraudulently altered a UPC label on a box of sub woofers. Upon ‘paying’ for the subwoofers and exiting the store, Muow was stopped
by store staff. Upon locating the concealed items, an investigation led to finding the price paid did not match the correct price for the subwoofers. Further investigation led to the discovery of the UPC label being from a different product of much lesser value. Total value of the items was $502.19.
