Merrill Police reports

June 13
2:45 p.m.- Officers responded to the Probation and Parole office to take a male party into custody who tested positive for methamphetamine. He was arrested on the probation violation and was booked into the Lincoln County jail.

June 14
12:02 a.m.- Officers responded to a noise complaint of loud music and yelling. Upon arrival, officers could hear the music from the sidewalk as well as yelling coming from inside the apartment. Initially no one would answer the door and then a female with an active warrant for her arrest answered and slammed the door on an officer. Contact as made with the actual renter and they allowed officers into the residence where two parties were found to have warrants for their arrest. They were arrested and transported to the jail.

9:24 p.m.- An officer responded to a battery complaint. A juvenile had been at Stange’s Park and was jumped by three juveniles. The victim had a black eye, cut lip and bruising on the face. All three juvenile suspects are being referred to Social Services for battery.

June 15
1:05 p.m.- An officer arrested a female for a probation violation and transported her to jail.

June 16
9:40 a.m.- Officers responding to a report of suspicious subjects panhandling at a gas station on South Center Avenue located the suspect vehicle leaving the area at a speed greater than the speed limit. The vehicle was stopped and the driver showed signs of drug impairment. The driver was ultimately arrested for OWI-drug related as well as other drug violations. The passenger was arrested for bail jumping. Both were incarcerated at Lincoln Co Jail.

2:45 p.m.- Officers received a report of a car v. bicycle crash at the intersection of West Main Street & Grand Avenue. The driver reported the crash stating the cyclist left the scene after swearing at her. The cyclist came into the police station about two hours later to report their involvement. Officers were consumed with other calls at that time and further investigation will be completed. Minor injuries are present.

4:15 p.m.- Officers responded to a West Main Street business for a possible theft. A suspicious subject was emptying a female’s wallet in the bathroom. The subject was confronted by officers, denied the activity and ultimately tried to flee. The subject was soon after taken into custody. It was later determined the suspect had stolen the wallet/purse from a nearby vehicle. The suspect faces multiple charges.
