Quotes

“For the second week in a row our times continue to drop and our distances are increasing. As a staff we were pleased with the results. What continues to hurt our team results is that we are not at full strength with athletes out sick, injured, or partially competing. As our relative health improves so will our team results.”

“Our relays looked good. Currently, we have several athletes filling in for some of our relay regulars and they are doing a super job with their legs helping us be very competitive. I was particularly pleased with our sprint relays. Our exchanges have been smooth as Coach Miller has been working diligently with the relays and it shows.”

“Most of our distance athletes used the meet for leg speed and were moved around to shorter races, and some of our throwers and athletes in the vertical jumps had some nice seasonal best efforts. Dane, Mason, Annaluz, and Hannah Schade scored solidly in the field events for us giving us needed points in the field events. Again, nearly all of our sprinters put seasonal best efforts on the books with the decent weather and low winds. We will need to step up to another level with our meets next week as a select group of our veterans will compete at the competitive Otto Bacher on Friday and the rest will compete on the varsity level in a limited entry meet on Tuesday at Three Lakes.”

Annaluz Fox…”coming off an injury from Mosinee, she rehabbed most of the week getting healthy just in time for the meet. It didn’t seem to affect her as she ran her best hurdle race to date, placing third picked up a runner-up effort in the vault with a solid 8’ effort and ran a nice leg in the 400 relay. Her ability to stay focused, despite the distraction of the injury is a credit to her competitiveness as an athlete.”

Dane Borchardt… “with a 107’ PR effort in the discus and a solid throw in the shot put, Dane was our main point-getter for the boys in the field events. He anchored our sprint relay to their best performance of the year as well. Most importantly, his leadership has been awesome all season. The younger athletes are learning a lot of positive traits from him as a role model.”

Kole Woodall… “Kole had a nice meet as well…with his highest finish in a large school meet and a seasonal best performance in the high hurdles he is approaching the sub-19 second barrier. He was also a member of both of our scoring sprint relays, having nice exchanges and running great legs on both relays. He is so coachable and he is having a strong sophomore season.”

Tomahawk travels to Three Lakes on Tuesday for a 10-team invite at BlueJay Stadium. The meet gets underway behind their school complex at 4 p.m.
