Letters to the Editor

Dear Editor,
Senator Tiffany makes himself look pretty good in his article last week. I should be used to the GOP spinning the things they do to make them sound good. I’m not. It is just that much more fertilizer.
Tiffany sold us all out as one of his very first acts as senator. After receiving $90,000 from Gogebic Taconite and its officers, he took legislation written by their lawyers and submitted it as his own. He essentially tried to sell out our Northwoods to a company which would literally rip it apart. Tiffany was bought.

The budget that he claims is balanced is over $2 billion in debt. Even my math is better than that. He helped reform the DNR, if by reformed you mean tore it apart and made ineffectual. Scientists and scientific programs were dumped and a political stooge was put in charge instead of someone who knows what they are supposed to do. He became a rubber stamp for the failed policies of our governor (i.e, the Koch brothers). He voted to pull $1 billion from our schools, forcing them to cut good programs, employees and good teachers. He claims to have begun to simplify the tax code, which means that the rich get all the breaks. He voted for “Right to Work for Less” legislation which will cut wages and benefits for working families; 41,000 have lost food stamps, 90,000 lost health care, up to 300,000 have been disenfranchised from voting by passing a law designed to cut Democratic voters. Our state is lagging behind most of the nation’s economies yet we are #1 in loss of the middle class and poverty is the highest it has been in the state in 30 years.

We have all watched as policy after policy has failed. Yet elected officials continue to tout them as successes. I challenge anyone to come up with anything Walker and his rubber stamps have done that has actually helped the state. I’m sure that there is something, somewhere that they have done that has helped, but I can’t find it. We need to be aware of reality when officials like Tiffany start making claims. The fact is that Wisconsin has suffered badly from the actions of Tiffany and his party. We will be decades getting back to where we were and repealing the damage. The change starts this fall.

Editor,
I put a special Easter wreath which I made and put on my son’s grave for Easter, Dale Roman, in the Snow Hill Cemetery. When I went to pick it up after Easter, someone had stole it. When you have to steal from the dead, you are very low. The Lord knows who you are. He may come to you and take something very precious. Did this make you very happy? What a shame. You did not pay for the wreath or the stand. Do you have nothing else to do but steal from the dead? If you would volunteer somewhere, your time would be useful and appreciated. There are many places that need help. Also, if you would get a hobby it would fill this empty space. You then would not have time to take things which do not belong to you, This person who took the wreath and stand does not have any Christianity in their life, or they would not do something like this.
Dale’s Mother,
Mildred Roman
