The deadline has passed for removing shanties from local waterways and with the mild temperatures this past weekend the Recreation Deputy is reminding outdoorsman that the ice which remains is no longer consistently safe. This past Thursday the DNR and Rec. Deputy investigated after a man on an ATV went through the ice on the Spirit Reservoir. A Tomahawk man was operating the ATV around noon on Thursday when it went in the water. He was able to remove the machine with the help of friends, the Rec. Deputy cited him for not having it registered.

A 32-year-old Tomahawk man was arrested late Thursday afternoon on a warrant charge. The man came to the Lincoln County Jail and informed the staff that he was wanted. A check showed an active warrant through the Wisconsin Department of Corrections for violating terms of his probation. The man was booked into the jail and held.

A 19-year-old Merrill man was arrested early Saturday morning after deputies responded to a disturbance in the Town of Merrill. A 911 call reported the incident just before 8:30 p.m. When the deputies arrived the man had fled after causing damage during an argument. The man returned a few hours later but ran into the woods when a deputy arrived to speak to him. The deputy monitored the home and just before 1 a.m. found the man trying to get back into the residence. He was taken into custody and brought to the Lincoln County Jail where he was charged with disorderly conduct and battery. Unable to post bond the man remains jailed awaiting a bond hearing on Monday.

A 23-year-old Tomahawk man is in the Lincoln County Jail after he was taken into custody following a welfare check by deputies. When deputies arrived at the home they found the man passed out and requested Tomahawk EMS to evaluate him. The man was uncooperative with deputies and later transported to Sacred Heart Hospital for medical clearance. During the transport the man continued to be uncooperative and spit at the face of the paramedic who was treating him. After an evaluation the man was brought to the Lincoln County Jail where he was charged with disorderly conduct and a felony charge of battery to an emergency responder. The suspect will have a bond hearing on Monday in Lincoln County Court.

A 31-year-old Merrill man was arrested Saturday afternoon after deputies investigated a disturbance in the Town of Merrill. Deputies went to residence when the victim reported the incident which started the night before. The suspect was gone when the woman phoned for help but he was later located by a Merrill Police Officer at a gas station on North Center Avenue. He was taken into custody on charge of disorderly conduct. He was also held on a probation violation charge.

Only two people reported striking deer this past week but you are reminded to use caution during your morning commute in the coming weeks. With daylight savings time it is now darker for an extra hour in the morning reducing your visibility.
