Merrill Police reports

February 22
11:06 a.m.- A male party was appearing in Municipal Court and was found to have a warrant for his arrest through a different agency. He was arrested on the active warrant.
2:49 p.m.- An officer took a report of a theft of medication. Female party reported a large amount of her medication was taken without her permission. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
7:21 p.m.- An officer located a female who had an active warrant for her arrest through Lincoln County for retail theft. The female was taken into custody without incident.
10:54 p.m.- Officers responded to Johnny T’s bar for a report of a male party consuming alcohol in violation of his open bond. Contact was made with the violating party and he was arrested for a bail jumping offense.

February 23
1:28 a.m.- A female party called 911 requesting a ride from a local bar after consuming too much intoxicants. An officer responded to attempt to assist and upon making contact with the caller it was found she had a valid warrant for her arrest. She was arrested and transported to jail.

February 25
10:43 a.m.- An officer investigated a retail theft from a business on South Center Avenue. Officers discovered that a male subject had taken a box of frozen chicken nuggets from the shelf into the bathroom of the business. The male than consumed some of the frozen nuggets and discarded the packaging and remainder of the nuggets. Officer located the male individual whom admitted to the action and was issued a citation.
2:04 p.m.- An officer investigated a theft of prescriptions and tools from a motor vehicle. The items were allegedly taken from the locked vehicle between midnight and 4 a.m. The investigation is ongoing.
5:15 p.m.- An officer investigated an attempted theft from coin machines at a local laundromat. The suspects were unsuccessful in their attempt but damaged the owner’s property in their attempt. The investigation is ongoing.

February 26
3:49 p.m.- An officer was dispatched to a welfare check on two young juveniles who were playing by a bridge. Contact was made with the juveniles and they were followed home. A parent was spoken to and they thought the children were outside with an older sibling. The children were spoken to about staying in the yard.

February 28
12:52 a.m.- A caller reported he was attacked by two men outside of his residence. Officers are continuing follow-up with the involved parties.
2:44 p.m.- A person in Arizona emailed the Merrill Police Department wishing to report she had ordered Christmas cookies from a Merrill resident in mid-December and never received the cookies. The investigation is ongoing.
3:56 p.m.- An officer on patrol located a large amount of animal feces in an alleyway. Contact was made at a residence and the tenant admitted he had discarded his dog feces in the alley. He agreed to clean up the mess.
