Girls basketball finishes second in conference

Varsity girls basketball beat Wisconsin Rapids last night 53-40, officially ending the regular season.  This was a much-needed victory after a string of losses that started with a 40-60 loss to the Marshfield Tigers on February 5th.
“They did a great job of attacking their zone and had very good ball movement and shot selection,” comments coach Ross Reinke.  “It was a great team effort going into the playoffs.”
Scoring leaders for last night’s game include Maddix Bonnell (18 p, 5 r, 5 a), Anna Finnell (11 p, 5 r, 2 a), Emily Page (9 p, 8 r, 3 a), Lindsey Casper (9 p, 4 r, 1 a), and Rylee Folz (6 p, 5 r, 1 a).
In addition to the game stats, Lindsey Casper leads the conference in the 3-pt. field goal shooting leaders category with a 0.437 and Maddix Bonnell leads second in the individual assist category with 3.4 assist per goal (stats as of Feb 16th).
With the regular season in the books, the Bluejays finish 16-6 overall with an 8-4 standing in the valley conference, ranking them second behind the undefeated Marshfield Tigers.
The Bluejays will start the playoffs with their first game on Friday, Feb. 26 at 7:00 pm against Antigo.
