A 25-year-old Merrill man was arrested early Wednesday morning after deputies responded to a vehicle causing damage to a field in the Town of Schley. At 2:18 a.m., a caller to 911 reported a vehicle had left the roadway of Town Hall Road and was racing through the field. The driver showed signs of intoxication but refused field sobriety tests and was taken into custody for a third offense of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. He was brought to the Lincoln County Jail where he was held on a probation hold.
A 25-year-old Tomahawk man was arrested Thursday morning on warrant charges. Deputies took the man into custody at the Lincoln County Courthouse. The man was there regarding a criminal traffic case but a check showed he was wanted by the Merrill Municipal Court for failing to pay a fine. He was brought to the Lincoln County Jail where he posted bond and was released.
A 49-year-old Gleason man was taken into custody late Saturday on a traffic charge. At 11:15 p.m., a deputy stopped a vehicle on County Rd. J at Irma after he spotted it traveling in excess of the posted limits on US Hwy. 51. The driver exhibited signs of intoxication and was placed through field sobriety tests. As a result of those tests he was taken into custody for a first offense of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. He was later released to a responsible party.
A 35-year-old Merrill woman was arrested early Monday morning on a warrant charge. Deputies went to a home in the Town of Merrill after a tipster reported a wanted person was there. Deputies made contact with the woman who was wanted by the Shawano County Sheriff for failing to pay child support. She was taken into custody and brought to the Lincoln County Jail and held.
The number of car deer crashes remains low with eight being reported this past week.
