Part 2 of Saturday’s WVC meet didn’t go quite as well for the Bluejay ladies as Part 1 earlier this season; breaking even with a decisive 3-0 win over Stevens Point and 0-3 handling at the hands of Marshfield.

The ladies initially hit the hardwood of Wausau East High School firing on all cylinders as they blasted Stevens Point 25-11 in their first set, then followed up with a 25-14, 25-16 combination to end the match.

The Tigers however, proved to be a whole different story as they came at the Jays with a vengeance, 25-14 in the first set. Although the ladies would fare a bit better in the final two sets, better proved not enough as they fell 25-18 and 25-20 to the kitties.

Leaders: Anna Finnell (20K); Rylee Folz (15K); Morgan Wardall (5K); Maddix Bonnell (4K); Chey Pyka (3AC); Lindsey Casper (1AC); Morgan Wardall (1AC); Maddix Bonnell (18D); Emily Page (15D); Ali Zamzow (13D).

Shootout at West

Thursday night the Jays found themselves embroiled in a tooth and nail shoot-out at Wausau West.
After dunking the Warriors (25-17) in the first set, West came back with a skin-of-the-teeth 25-23 win.

The ladies countered with another convincing win, 25-15, before falling 25-23 again in the fourth set to the scrappy Warriors. Fortunately, Merrill would prove to have a bit more gas in their tank in running away with a 15-5 win in the final set.

Leaders: Finnell (16K); Bonnell (11K); Wardall (9K); Bonnell (3AC); Zamzow (2AC); Bonnell (18D); Page (15D); Zamzow (14D).
