John R. Van Sleet, age 39, of Wausau, passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2015.
John was born June 17, 1976, in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, son of Bruce and Susan (Nelson) Van Sleet, Merrill. John had been a Business Analyst for A.C. Nielsen, Chicago, Illinois. He enjoyed spending time with his family. John also enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with nature, whether it was snow shoeing, water skiing, hunting or fishing. John was musically talented. He was an excellent singer and guitar player. His musical talents earned him several lead roles in class plays over the years.
Survivors include his parents, Bruce and Susan Van Sleet, Merrill; his fiancée, Rhnea Wimmer, Wausau; two brothers, Paul (Dana) Van Sleet, Mendota Heights, Minnesota, and Donovan (fiancée, Cathi Metcalf) Van Sleet, Graham, Washington; his half sister, Jeanne (Jeff) Erickson, Toledo, Ohio; and four nephews, Davin, Sean, Eli, and Nicholas Van Sleet.
Family and friends may gather at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, from 4 to 7 PM on Monday, October 5, 2015. Burial will take place at a later date in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery, Merrill.
