Merrill Police Department reports

August 21
2:06 p.m.- A male was arrested and transported to the jail for a Probation Violation.
8:07 p.m.- Officers responded to a disturbance in the 800 block of Cottage Street. As a result, a male was arrested for Domestic Battery and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
August 22
12:07 p.m.- An officer investigated a theft complaint in the 100 block of Park Street.
August 23
6:42 a.m.- A caller reported damage to a picnic table at one of the parks. Graffiti had been marked on the picnic table. The caller provided the names of the suspect and investigation continues.
4:29 p.m.- A restaurant employee called to report a male had been at the restaurant and intentionally confused the clerk causing the clerk to give more change back than was due. The suspect(s) were unable to be located. Later in the evening the suspect returned and attempted the same scam. A suspect was able to be determined and further investigation continues.
5:44 p.m.- A restaurant employee reported an attempted scam. A male attempted to confuse an employee into giving him more change back than what was due. The suspect was later determined after attempting the scam at another restaurant.
August 24
10 a.m.- A supervisor at a factory reported finding a pen casing with white residue inside. The substance tested positive for methamphetamine. As determining a suspect was not going to be possible the item was destroyed and the information relayed to the business.
3:01 p.m.- A crash was reported on E. Main St. near Eagle Dr. A vehicle had been stopped to make a turn and the vehicle behind did not see the stopped vehicle in time and rear-ended the stopped vehicle. A crash report was completed.
3:14 p.m.- A male was arrested for a probation violation at the request of Probation & Parole.
3:36 p.m.- A resident of an assisted living facility reported someone had stolen money from his wallet. Investigation continues.
7:43 p.m.- An officer attempted to stop a vehicle for a speeding violation. The vehicle fled from the officer and a short pursuit ensued. Officers were able to locate the driver and he was arrested for fleeing an officer. He was also cited for operating while suspended and operating without insurance. The driver had been stopped two hours prior and cited for operating while suspended and operating without insurance.
August 25
6:19 p.m.- Officers investigated a burglary in the 1800 block of East 3rd Street. The suspect was charged with Burglary and Possession of Marijuana.
8:41 p.m.- Officers responded to a theft complaint in the 500 block of Pine Ridge Avenue. The suspects left prior to officers’ arrival but have been identified.
August 26
12:19 a.m.- An officer observed a vehicle being driven by two people the officer was familiar with. One of the occupants had a warrant for his arrest. The officer stopped the vehicle and the male ran from the vehicle. The male was later located and taken to the jail. The female driver was also arrested for Encouraging a Probation Violation.
10:46 p.m.- Officers investigated a theft in the 500 block of Pine Ridge Avenue. The male suspect was charged with 4 counts of theft.
August 27
12:37 a.m.- An officer investigated a theft of jewelry from a residence. The investigation is ongoing.
August 28
Officers responded to a domestic incident in the 200 block of East 4th Street. During contact with individuals involved it was learned the male and female had a verbal argument where the female was not allowing the male to leave. During the incident the female removed the spark plug wires from the vehicle while the male was attempting to leave. In the end the officers were able to resolve the situation and the parties went their separate ways.
Officers responded to a disorderly conduct incident in the 900 block of East 5th Street after it was reported two parties were yelling at each other and one was swinging a bat. Contact was made with both parties. Both admitted to yelling at each other after one was called a punk. There was nothing physical between the two and both were warned for their disorderly behavior.
August 29
An officer conducted a traffic stop on East Main Street for an equipment violation and during his contact with the driver it was found the driver had a warrant for his arrest out of Oneida County. The male was arrested for the warrant.
A caller reported someone used his social security number to take out a fraudulent loan in the amount of $600 and that he now received notice from the loan company that he was late on the loan and now owes $1,042. Suspect information was obtained and the investigation continues.
An officer investigated a report of a bike theft in the 100 block of North Prospect Street. The victim reported the bike she had recently received was parked behind her residence and that someone had taken it. The bike is an older style blue Schwinn with a big letter S on the seat.
August 30
An officer took a vandalism complaint from a male who said someone had broken his truck windshield. During the investigation a suspect was determined. The investigation continues.
August 31
7:35 a.m.- An officer investigated a theft complaint in the 900 block of East Main Street. The investigation is ongoing.
6:54 p.m.- Officers responded to a Domestic Disturbance in the 200 block of East 2nd Street. As a result, a male was arrested for Disorderly Conduct, after it was alleged he had threatened another person with a knife.
