Janice E. Miklas

Janice E. Miklas, age 77, of Tomahawk, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2015 at Ministry Sacred Heart Hospital in Tomahawk. Janice was born October 20, 1937, in Merrill, WI, to the late Otto and Olga Hinz. She graduated from Trinity Lutheran School in 1952 and Merrill High School in 1956.
Janice was married to Clarence “Stoze” Miklas on October 25, 1958, in Merrill; he passed away in 2008. They resided in Merrill until moving to Tomahawk in 1977. Janice worked at the former Hanson Glove, Merrill Wire Products and Hurd Window Factory. She and her husband owned and operated the Liquor Shack and Cheese Shoppe and Melody Lane Ice Cream parlor in Tomahawk until their retirement.
Janice was devoted to God and a faithful member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tomahawk. She enjoyed walking, reading, shopping, listening to polka bands; especially at the casino, and watching true-story movies. She loved sitting on her deck watching the skiers and boats go by. Janice’s passion was being a mother. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and cherished the time spent playing cards and Chinese checkers as a family. Janice will be remembered for her huge heart and beautiful soul and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include two sons, Clifford (Christine) Miklas, and Steven Miklas, both of Tomahawk; two daughters, Lorna (Robert) Eskola, and Linda (Michael) Schlinsog, both of Tomahawk; two brothers, Lloyd Hinz, of Merrill, and Marvin (Darlene) Hinz, of DeForest. Janice is further survived by five grandchildren, Michael, Jr., Deonna, Katrina, Kelly and Derek; and seven great grandchildren, Michael III, Madison, Caelyn, Haylee, Alexander, Addisyn and Blake.
Funeral Services for Janice Miklas will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2015, at 11:00 AM, from St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tomahawk. Rev. Mark Schoenherr will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of Services at 11:00 AM. Interment will immediately follow services at Greenwood Cemetery.
