Dolores J. Kamark

Dolores J. Kamark, age 93, of Merrill, passed away Sunday, August 16, 2015 at her home under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services. She was born August 1, 1922 in Chicago to the late Thomas and Kathryn (McNalty) Schwertferger. On June 7, 1941 Dolores and Chester Kamark were united in marriage in Winchester, TN. He preceded her in death August 13, 1985.
Dolores was a 1940 graduate from Catholic High School in Chicago. She worked at Holy Cross Hospital as a CNA until her retirement. Prior to nursing, Dolores worked many years at General Electric then Toastmaster on the assembly line. She enjoyed making quilts, sewing, and crocheting many beautiful afghans and shawls which she gifted to her children. Dolores loved to cook and was known for her canned fruit and vegetables and always had some apple slices or homemade pumpkin pie to share. She enjoyed watching old black & white movies and loved to dance the jitter-bug and sing. Dolores was an avid doll collector. She was very giving, loving and supportive without ever being judge mental. Dolores never complained, was very forgiving and had a very strong faith in God. She was a very stunning, beautiful woman which was a reflection of her heart. Dolores was very generous to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or any other organization for Children in need. She was a longtime member of St. Francis Catholic Church.
Dolores is survived by her six children: Gerald Kamark, Merrill, Chester (Linda) Kamark, Jr, Appleton, Barbara (Peter) Samolinski, Wausau, Mark (Debbie) Kamark, Oshkosh, Marie (Thomas) Strandberg, Merrill, and Theresa (fiancé Brad) Grund, Irma; 13 grandchildren: Jennifer, Ann Marie, Robin, Catherine, Benjamin, Jessica, Andrew Jr, Grant, Garrett, Cody, Krista, Chelsea and Jake; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; two half-sisters: Caroline and Rosemary; four nieces; and her dear friend: Karen Koeller. She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband, Chester, brother, George, sister, Elizabeth, half-brother, Thomas, two uncles, Nick and Ray and two aunts, Loretta and Marie.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, August 21 at St. Francis Catholic Church. Father Chris Kemp will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM Thursday, August 20 and again from 9:30-10:30 AM Friday before the service all at the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery. Memorial may be given in Dolores’ name to St. Jude’s. Waid Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.waidfuneral.com
