Merrill Police Department reports

August 10
10:14 a.m.- It was reported there were two turtles stuck in the old swimming pool at Stange’s Park. The complaint was sent to the Parks Dept.
5:30 p.m.- A caller reported he had struck a parked vehicle. He was found to have a revoked driver’s license and warrants for his arrest through other agencies. He was arrested for those warrants as well as a probation violation. He was cited for operating after revocation and inattentive driving.
5:57 p.m.- A caller reported finding a baggie with white substance inside on a sidewalk. An officer located a gem bag with possible drug residue inside. As the owner is unknown and it was destroyed at the PD.
7 p.m.- A crash was reported on North Center Avenue at East 3rd Street. A vehicle had been stopped at the stop light. The vehicle behind that one struck the vehicle. The offending driver was cited for inattentive driving. A crash report was completed.
August 11
11:47 a.m.- A caller reported a single vehicle crash in the 200 block of Scott Street. The officer observed characteristics indicative of drug use from the driver. She was arrested for operating while intoxicated and cited for operating while suspended. She was found to be in possession of a white powder which she claimed was crushed prescription medication.
4:06 p.m.- A male was arrested for a probation violation at the request of Probation & Parole.
4:21 p.m.- A female was arrested for a probation violation at the request of Probation & Parole.
August 12
9:43 a.m.- An officer investigated a theft from the yard of a resident in the 600 block of Kyes Street.
12:26 p.m.- An officer investigated a theft from a business in the 3400 block of East Main Street.
August 13
8:55 a.m.- Officers investigated a drug complaint where the suspect left methamphetamine at a local convenience store. The investigation continues.
10:09 a.m.- An officer investigated an animal complaint in the 900 block of Grand Avenue. The officer found that the animals were being neglected and the living conditions were extremely poor. Charges will likely be filed against the owner.
12:11 p.m.- An officer investigated a burglary where a motorcycle was taken. The investigation is ongoing.
3:12 p.m.- An officer investigated a theft in the 500 block of Pine Ridge Avenue. The investigation is ongoing.
7:32 p.m.- An officer investigated a theft from a residence in the 600 block of West 2nd Street. The investigation is ongoing.
