Carlos F. Hass

Carlos F. Hass, 85, of Merrill, died Friday, August 7, 2015, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.

Carlos was born March 7, 1930, son of the late Emil and Erna Hass. He married Carol Fox on September 13, 1958. She preceded him in death on October 30, 2006. He then married Betty Ann (Peterson) Grefe in May of 2009. She preceded him in death on November 15, 2010.

Carlos was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked for Weyerhaeuser Corp. in Rothschild for 25 years, and retired as a crane operator. Carlos was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Merrill. He enjoyed playing dart ball, shooting pool, feeding birds and other wildlife, dancing, watching old western movies, and listening to country music. Carlos also enjoyed visiting with family and friends, and playing cards in a card club with neighbors in the Town of Corning. Carlos liked watching sports and was a devoted Green Bay Packers fan. In his younger days, he enjoyed playing ball with his nephews and younger brothers-in-law. Carlos really enjoyed making others smile.

Survivors include his daughter, Cammie Hass of Wausau; four grandchildren, Shawn (Sammi), Matt (Julie), Ben, and Anthony; seven great-grandchildren, Shawn Jr., Mackenzie, Issy, Danny, Skyler, Olivia, and Brandi; two brothers, Roger (Janean) Hass of Merrill, and Ronald Hass of South Carolina; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Andrea (Earl) Dallman, Martha (Walter) Bahlow, Marion Fox, Alfred (Linda) Fox, Royal (Geraldine) Fox, and Dennis (Earlene) Fox all of Merrill, Eugene Fox of Wausau, and David Fox of Irma; and many nieces and nephews.

Carlos was preceded in death by his wives, Carol Hass and Betty Ann Grefe-Hass; his parents, Emil and Erna Hass; a brother, Clifford Hass; four sisters-in-law, Barbara Hass, Joan Fox, Edna Dey, and Lucille Fox; and one brother-in-law, Ned Fox Jr.

The memorial service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at the Pine Crest Nursing Home Chapel, Merrill. The Rev. Dr. Dennis R. Creswell will officiate. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:30 A.M. Wednesday at the Pine Crest Nursing Home Chapel, Merrill. The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family with arrangements.
