The inaugural Merrill Lobsterfest was held Saturday as a fundraiser to support the Tomahawk-Merrill Tavern League Safe Ride Home program in Lincoln County. The event was presented by Ballyhoos and The Beacon, with the involvement of local law enforcement agencies. All 300 available tickets were sold and the lobsters were pre-ordered directly from Maine. The lobsters were caught in the Atlantic Ocean on Thursday and arrived alive in Merrill on Friday. Organizers plan to make Lobsterfest an annual event, with next year’s date set for July 30.
