Merrill’s Doerr is state Eagles president

Scott Doerr from Merrill was installed as Eagles State President of Wisconsin during the State convention held in Fond du lac on June 28 for a one-year term. Scott started working through the Western Zone Offices and was then nominated by his home Aerie for State office. Scott then worked his way up through various offices through nomination by former State Presidents.

Scott has been a Member of the Eagles since 1982. He served his Local Aerie #584 as Trustee, Vice President and President. Scott presently holds the Office of Aerie Secretary in Merrill and is the manager of the Merrill Eagles Bar & Restaraunt.

Scott’s new responsibilities will include visiting the other 23 Eagle Clubs in the State as well as National, Regional and State conventions. Scott will be the Goodwill Ambassador for the State of Wisconsin. Scott will oversee building membership over the next year and raising money for charity. Scott’s Theme is “Open the Door to New Members.” The theme involves signing new members and maintaining their membership by welcoming them and getting them involved in fundraising activities.

The Fraternal Order of Eagles is a International organization with over 880,000 members. The Eagles raise money for local and national charities such as heart, lung, kidney cancer. The Eagles raised and donated $25 million in a five-year period for diabetes research at the University of Iowa Diabete’s Research Center. All the money raised for charities goes directly to people or facilities needing the funds and the money cannot be used for administrative costs. Last year, Wisconsin Eagles raised over $114,000.

Scott also has a State Project he is raising money for. It is Spinal Cord Injury research at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. “I am looking forward to a successful year raising money for our charities on the local, state and national levels and increasing our membership to help achieve that goal,” Scott said.

Scott is married to Linda and has two sons, Michael and Christopher, and two grandchildren. Scott is an avid bowler and a not-so-good golfer. He is Bar & Restaurant Manager at the Merrill Eagles Club.
