‘Jessi’s Wish’ cancer benefit planned

A fund raiser benefit for “Jessi’s Wish” will be held on Saturday, June 13 at Rock Island, N2737 Hwy. 107. Doors will open at 3 p.m. with a bag tournament at 3:30 p.m., silent auction and raffles from 3-7 p.m. and live music from 7-11 p.m. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase.
Jessi Alft of Merrill was first diagnosed with breast cancer when she was 33 years old. A year later, after treatment, she received the great news that she was cancer free.
However, optimism was cut short when she and her family learned that the cancer had returned to her liver. She fought with weekly chemo treatments until she passed away in 2014 at the age of 39.
Her dying wish was to give back to the community and financially help those whose lives are affected by cancer.
“Together with the help of her friends, family and you, we can make this happen by attending the benefit,” said Johnille Alft, one of the benefit organizers.
There will be a variety of raffles, lotteries and silent auctions for a huge amount of items ranging from Packers pre-season tickets and autographed football, patio set, chainsaw, stainless steel .22 rifle with scope and a large assortment of gift cards and merchandise donated by the merchants of Merrill.
To make a donation or for additional information, contact Johnille at 715-4407 or Becky at 715-302-8599.
