Alvira O. Younker, age 99, died Friday, May 22, 2015, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.
Alvira was born February 14, 1916, in Bolivar, Missouri, daughter of the late Otto and Bertha (Plank) Pfantz. She married Clifford Clark in 1932, and he preceded her in death on November 23, 1956. She then married Leslie Younker on October 10, 1964, and he preceded her in death on November 19, 1985. Alvira was a homemaker and farmed with her first husband. She had also worked for Tree’s for Tomorrow and at the former Holy Cross Hospital. Alvira enjoyed knitting and traveling. Alvira was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill.
Survivors include her sister, Salma Baumann of Merrill; her brother, Floyd (Lucille) Pfantz of Wausau; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husbands, Alvira is preceded in death by her infant daughter, Mae Clark; and seven brothers and sisters, Infant Paul Pfantz, Roscoe (Joyce) Pfantz, Erich (Adelia) Pfantz, Carl (June) Pfantz, Ernest Pfantz, Sophie (Ben) Henderson, and Amelia (Fred) Lutzke.
The funeral will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, May 28, 2015, at St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill. The Rev. Joel Hoelter will officiate. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Town of Rock Falls. Visitation will begin at 9:30 A.M. Thursday at the church. The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family.
