Local dancers headed to Disney World

Dorinda’s Dance Studio of Merrill will be taking 71 dancers to Florida in June to perform at Disney World. The group recently learned they have been chosen to lead 300 performers in the Magic Kingdom Parade inside Disney World.
Dorinda’s Dance Studio was chosen to perform at Disney World’s “Dance the World” event based on a performance video they entered. That video also earned them the front spot in the parade.
Studio owner Dorinda Gustke and daughter Ally Gustke have choreographed a routine to the song “Uptown Funk” for the dancers to perform on the Hollywood Studios stage.  The dancers, ranging in age from 6-22, have been working on the routine since December. They will perform it in public for the first time during the studio’s annual show May 9 & 10 at Prairie River Middle School.
The dance studio has traveled to Florida before, but never to Disney World. Dancers from the studio entered a competition in Florida in 2009.
The dancers will be in Florida from June 18-21. They will be rehearsing on the Hollywood Studios stage on Thursday, participating in the parade on Friday and performing in “Dance the World” on Saturday. The performance will be followed by a farewell gala, which includes a dinner with the Disney characters.
Tickets are still available for some of the shows at Prairie River Middle School next week. The show theme is “Be Our Guest.” For ticket information, contact the studio at 715-536-4411.
