Robert ?Mitch? Lechelt

Robert “Mitch” Lechelt, 66, of Waunakee/Merrill/Wausau, died on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg.
He was born on May 17, 1948 in Merrill to William and Florence (Torzewski) Lechelt. He met and married Ann Rossmiller in Wausau in 1996 and they resided in Waunakee for the past 10 years with their daughter Molly. Mitch worked as a Union carpenter all of his life and toward the end of his career taught carpenter apprentices at the Carpenter’s Training Center in Madison. Mitch also followed in his father’s footsteps and was a great bartender for many years.
He enjoyed woodworking, fishing in Canada, and although he wasn’t a hunter, going to the hunting shack up North with friends. He especially loved watching his daughter Molly in her High School athletic endeavors. Mitch was a fun and loyal friend, maintaining strong friendships with friends from high school and creating new friendships everywhere he lived. He always had a mischievous twinkle in his eye and was quick with a story or to tease.
Survivors include his wife Ann and daughter Molly. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mary Rucinski.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 21, at 11 a.m. at St John’s Catholic Church, 209 South St., Waunakee. Msgr. James Gunn will officiate. Friends may call at the church on Tues from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services.
Winn-Cress Funeral Home, Waunakee, served the family.
