Domestic Disturbance Leads to Felony Charges for Merrill man.

Friday afternoon, officers responded a reported domestic disturbance near the city’s west side.

Upon arrival, witnesses advised officers of a male and female fighting inside a van at a stop sign.
Upon further investigation, officers were told 27 year old Eddie Vaughan had become intoxicated and took a vehicle without consent. 
When Vaughan returned with the vehicle a short time later, an argument ensued between Vaughn and the victim. 
During the argument, Vaughn allegedly slammed the victim’s head against the passenger side window and repeatedly choked the victim while threatening to kill the victim. 
According to officer notes, the victim sustained visible injuries consistent with the report given by the victim.
Vaughn left the scene prior to office arrival, but was located three hours later at another residence. Upon entry into the residence by officers, Vaughan was found in a bedroom and taken into custody as TASER point
On Monday morning, Vaughn appeared in Lincoln County Circuit Court, facing several felony charges including two counts of Strangulation and Suffocation,
and three counts of Felony Bail Jumping. In addition, Vaughn faces misdemeanor charges of Domestic Violence Related Disorderly Conduct and Domestic Violence Related Battery.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Vaughn remains incarcerated at the Lincoln County Jail on $2,000 signature bond and $500 cash bond.
According to court records, Vaughn has an open case with Lincoln County Circuit Court from a similar incident in November. In that case, Vaughn faced the same charges of Strangulation and Suffocation, Battery and Disorderly Conduct. In both cases, Vaughn was ordered to not consume alcohol, avoid taverns and have no contact with the victim.
