Record numbers of entries, racers and fans turned out in January and February for the Iced Oval Winter Races located in Gleason, sponsored by the Gleason Community Club.
During the five-race season, more than 130 different drivers came to Gleason. The racers ranged from local favorites from Merrill, Rhinelander, Antigo and Wausau to as far away as Racine, Milwaukee, Eau Claire and Sheboygan.
Over 250 different entries were registered on a given race day in a number of classes for snowmobile, quad ATVs, outlaw and factory carts. More than 30 volunteers worked together weekly to put on this action-filled event that drew an average of 750 spectators per race.
A thank you goes out to all racers, spectators and volunteers and the Gleason Community Club is looking forward to seeing everyone again at the Winter Races in 2016.
