Eleanor Ann Sukow, age 93, was called to her eternal home on January 31, 2015 at Pine Crest Nursing Home in Merrill. She was born on April 17, 1921 in Merrill to William and Lena Krause. Eleanor was baptized into the Kingdom of God on May 8, 1921 and later confirmed her faith in Jesus as her Lord and Savior on March 25, 1934. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Merrill.
Eleanor married Leslie Sukow on November 2, 1940 in Merrill, WI. The Lord blessed their marriage with one son, Daniel and one daughter, Dian.
Eleanor worked at Weinbrenner Shoe Factory until retiring. She loved life. She enjoyed work and homemaking. Eleanor loved to polka, play cards, cook and garden. Her favorite times were at the shack in Newood. Everyone was always welcome at the shack, whether it be the hunting season, or just a fun family gathering. She spent time at the shack making sausage, snowmobiling and being with family and friends. Her smile will always be remembered.
Eleanor especially enjoyed time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. They were a very important part of her life. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandma, aunt, sister and friend. She will be sadly missed.
Eleanor is survived by her son, Daniel (Sandra) Sukow of Saynor, WI; daughter, Dian (Larry) Steinfest of Gleason, WI; 5 grandchildren, Jeffery ( Kim) Sukow, Kristine (Kreg) Grindle, Tammy (Keith) Jacobson, Timothy Steinfest and Tena (Chad) Gnewuch; 13 great grandchildren, Ben Norman, Jed Norman, TorriAnna Jacobson, Samantha Steinfest, Amanda Steinfest, Melinda Steinfest, Emma Grindle, Hannah Grindle, Megan Grindle, Sophia Sukow, Carson Sukow, Dillon Gnewuch and Carter Gnewuch; 2 great great grandchildren, Mikaili Norman and Colton Lee. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leslie Sukow; granddaughter, Tracy Steinfest; brother, Clarence (Grace) Krause and 3 sisters, Leonna (Art) Engel, Elvira (Ted) Engel and baby Irene.
A Funeral Service for Eleanor will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at 11:30 AM at the Waid Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 4, 2015, also at Waid Funeral Home, beginning at 10AM and continue until the time of the service. Pastor Brian Stolarczyk will officiate. Burial at the Snow Hill Cemetery in the town of Scott will follow the service.
