THS grapplers post 7-0 week

The Hatchet grapplers dominated competition last week, winning two dual meets and Saturday’s Redbird Duals tournament.
“It was a very good week,” THS coach Bob Garrou said.
Tomahawk cruised through four rounds on Saturday, topping Sevastapol (66-9), Appleton East (66-18), West DePere (66-15), and Green Bay W./SW (46-27, before pulling out a tight 36-32 triumph over New London.
“It came down to Nate Flohr,” Garrou said. “As much as he felt bad for losing at Rhinelander, he won it for us. It’s funny how that can happen twice in one year. The kids just mobbed him. It’s really great for a coach to see someone celebrated like that.”
Flohr (145) pinned Carlos Enamorado in 1:52 to finish 5-0 on the day. Kaleb Kasminski (182) and Dane Borchardt (195) matched it and Chase Erdman (132), Blake Mueller (160), Slade Erdman (170), Jake Borchardt (285) and Brady Anderson (113) all went 4-1. Cullen Wegener (126) and Jacob Schaper (220) were 3-1, Isaac Tomek (106) was 2-1, and Tyler Wittmann (152) was 2-2. Trevor Thieme (126) was 1-0, Tasha Carstensen (106) went 1-1, Blake Carstesen (120) was 1-4  and Matt Turkiewcz (132) was 0-2.
Digging a T-Bird hole
The Hatchets took down Lakeland 45-24 on Thursday to improve to 3-1 in the GNC.
“We wrestled really well,” Garrou said. “We started at 152 and pinned all the way through to the top.”
Dakota Tomek (152, 2:39), Mueller (1:45), Jacob Pieffle (170, :20), S. Erdman (2:34), D. Borchardt (forf.) and J. Borchardt (220, 1:40) and Schaper (285, :41) made it 42-0. The T-Birds went on a run of six straight over I. Tomek (6-5), Anderson (4-2), B. Carstensen (12-0), Wegener 917-2), Turkiexicz (7-1) and Jach (4:12), before Wittmann won 12-6.
Besting Bluejays
The next-best match of the week was a 35-33 win over Athens last Tuesday.
“It came down to us getting more pins,” Garrou said.
Wins came from Kaminski (11-5), S. Erdman (195, 4:32), D. Borchardt (220, 2:32), J. Borchardt (285, 13-4), T. Carstensen (forf.), I. Tomek (forf.), and Jach (13-0).
Losses were taken by Pieffle (11-4), B. Anderson (6-3, Wegener (16-0), Turkiexicz :59), D. Tomek (11-0) and B. Mueller (1:42).
