Hanson hangs up his mail bag

After 30 years with the U.S. Postal Service, Marv Hanson hung up his mail bag at the Merrill Post Office Tuesday.
A Merrill native, Hanson served in the military before taking his job with the Post Office. He worked one year in Wausau before transferring to his hometown of Merrill.
As a city carrier, Hanson has put on countless miles walking on his mail routes in Merrill. That has suited him just fine.
“I’m an athletic type guy and I get to get out and walk every day,” he said.
Along with working in the fresh air, Hanson is going to miss all the people he gets to see every day on his route.
Hanson has a to-do list for retirement that includes traveling and working out in the woods.
