Irene L. Guerin, age 78, of Merrill, died Sunday, December 28, 2014, at Pine Crest Nursing Home.
Irene was born January 30, 1936, in Elgin, Illinois, daughter of the late Melvin and Loretta (Littler) Sjurset. She married Dale Guerin on July 17, 1976, and he preceded her in death in 2007. Irene was formerly a Certified Nursing Assistant at Pine Crest Nursing Home, and had also worked at Wal-Mart. She enjoyed putting puzzles together, playing cards, taking care of her pets, and spending time with her family and friends.
Irene is survived by a daughter, Penny Pfortmiller, Merrill; a son, Robert (Lisa) Kleinschmidt, Wausau; one grandson, Daniel Kleinschmidt; three great grandchildren, Alexia, Kendall, and Samara; four sisters, Joyce Landis of Crystal Lake, Illinois, Lynn (Carl) Dever of Quincy, Illinois, Jennifer (Bill) Snyder, and Lori (Don) Lohfink, both of Merrill; and two brothers, Gene (Annette) Sjurset of Waterford, Connecticut, and Joel (Cheryl) Sjurset of McHenry, Illinois. Besides her parents and husband, Irene is preceded in death by her daughter, Roxanne Kleinshcmidt, an infant sister, Joan Sjurset, and a brother in law, Dick Landis.
The funeral will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 31, 2014, at the Pine Crest Nursing Home Chapel, Merrill. Pastor Dennis R. Creswell will officiate. Burial will follow in Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. Wednesday at Pine Crest. The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family.
