THS girls edged

The THS girls fell 2-1 in last Thursday’s road game with Marshfield despite dominating much of the action.
The Tigers managed a goal in each of the first two periods, netting them out of scrums in the slot.
Tomahawk cut it to 2-1 with 9:36 elapsed in the third, when Erika Vallier netted a Lauren Bembinster assist. But the Hatchets were unable to knot it up, despite increased pressure after pulling goalie Erin Sparks late in the game. Tomahawk finished with nine more shots on goal.
“It was a heart-breaking loss,” THS coach Greg Vallier said. “We dominated. From the opening drop of the puck the Hatchet girls were the aggressors. It’s a hard pill to swallow.”
Saves–THS–Erin Sparks 6-5-8–19. NE–Alexis Starughan 11-11-6–28.
