Steve Alan Oberg

Steve Alan Oberg, age 55, was called to his heavenly home on Saturday, December 13th, 2014, after his courageous battle with cancer. 
Steve was born November 19th, 1959 to David and Gayle (Waldburger) Oberg.  He married Dixie Barney on May 28th, 1983, in Merrill.  She survives.  Steve was a graduate of Merrill High School and was employed at Lincoln Wood Products.  Steve looked forward to his Tuesday nights golfing with his buddies, ice fishing in his homemade ice shack in the wintertime, taking boat rides down the river on the pontoon, and tinkering in the garage listening to all the great classics. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends; and traveling the country and making the best of memories with his best friend and wife, Dixie. 
Survivors include his wife of 31 years Dixie Barney Oberg of Merrill, daughters Courtney (Joseph) Busterud Jr. of Merrill, and Magan Oberg (Kevin Lynch) of Madison; his parents David and Gayle Oberg of Merrill; two lovely granddaughters, Gracey and Lillian Busterud of Merrill; sisters,  Sherri (Jeff) Heath of Merrill, Tammy (Timothy) Gruling of Merrill, Dawn (Tom) Henrich, Sandra (Eric) Hansen of Wisconsin Rapids; brother, Darrell Oberg of Irma; his mother-in-law, Grace Barney of Merrill; sisters-in-law, Linda (James) Pierce of Merrill, Tina (Bruce) Hipke of Merrill, and Michelle (Kevin) Kniess of Madison; brother-in-law, David (Marcy) Barney Jr. of Merrill; and many nieces and nephews.  Steve was preceded in death by his father-in-law, David Barney, Sr.; and his grandparents, Ernest and Gladys Oberg, Mabel Johnson, and Otto Waldburger.
The Funeral Service for Steve will be held at 12:00 P.M., Noon, Friday, December 19th, 2014, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Merrill.  Pastor Dennis Creswell will officiate.  Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. Friday at the church.  The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family with arrangements.  
The family would like to thank Dr. Rezazadeh and the staff at Aspirus Regional Cancer Center for the wonderful care given to Steve.
