THS swims twice

The Hatchet swim team jumped into the pool with both feet last week, capped by Saturday’s Hodag Relays.
“This is a great meet to go to at the beginning of the season,” THS coach Marion Kohl said. “The guys really came together well as a team.”
The 300 backstroke team of freshmen Jacob Miller, Devon Liebnitz and Kole Svacina grabbed the highest place with a win in 3:59.50.
The 150 mixer group of Lucas Tjugum, Brandon Pankow and Nathan Goehe was second in 1:48.35, and the 300 brea team of Tyler Larch, Parker Knipfer and Logan Loretz matched that finish in 4:08.14.
Preying Hawks
Shawano presented a big challenge on Thursday with Zach Soper, 3-time state qualifier, leading a 101-66 win.
“We were pleasantly surprised at how the score turned out tonight,” Kohl said.
THS ranked 1-2 in the 500 free with Svacina (6:17.26) and Goehe (6:19.09). The 200 free team (Loretz, Larch, Tjugum, Goehe, 1:48.18) also won. In the 200 IM, they went 2-3-4, with Goehe (2:36.42), Svacina (2:44.68) and Knipfer (2:51.9). Other runner-up placings came from: Peyton Hamm (200 free, 2:26.92); Loretz (100 brea, 1:16.09)and the 400 free relay (Goehe, Hamm, Jacob Miller, Svacina, 4:34.67).
