Le Elda Adeline Agnes Giese

Le Elda Adeline Agnes Giese, age 98, went to her heavenly home on December 6, 2014.  She spent the last several months in the loving care of the Seasons of Life Hospice House and staff in Woodruff, WI.  Le Elda was born on January 21, 1916.  She was the daughter of William and Adeline (Giese) Lemke of the town of Berlin, Wisconsin.  She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Naugart, WI.  She married the late Alfred Giese on November 6, 1937 at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Naugart.
Le Elda worked for the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department as a Matron from 1953 to 1973, while her husband was the Sheriff and Under Sheriff.  She also worked in several retail stores in Merrill.  Le Elda will be remembered for her service to the Trinity Lutheran Church in Merrill and the Ladies Aide, where she was a long-time member.  Her deep faith in God was a daily comfort to her.
Le Elda was an avid knitter and all of her grandchildren and many children of need in the community have benefited from her gifts.  She also knitted several sweaters for Guideposts Sweater Project, knowing that her sweaters, so lovingly made, are being enjoyed around the world.
Le Elda will be sadly missed by her son: Richard (Carol) Giese, sister: Lenore Ehlert, grandchildren: Michelle (Gary) Merk, Renee (Samuel) Hone, Tara (Troy) Meffert and David Giese.  She has been a wonderful grandmother to her 13 great grandchildren.  She is also survived by a very special niece: Sally (Gary) Oberg, special nephew: Charles (Maripat) Krueger and sister-in-law: Helen Giese.
Funeral services for Le Elda will be held at 11AM on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Merrill.  Pastor Brian Stolarczyk will officiate.  Visitation will be held at the church, beginning at 9:30AM on Thursday, December 11, 2014 and continue until the time of the service.  Burial will take place at the Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery.  Waid Funeral Home in Merrill is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences can be made at www.waidfuneral.com.
