Theresa A. Mangold, age 79, formerly of Monona, WI, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014, at Bell Tower Residence. Theresa was under the care of her loving family, the Bell Tower staff, and hospice services.
Theresa was born May 30, 1935, in Fort Peck, MT, daughter of the late John and Bella (Maguire) Mangold, Sr. The Mangold family moved to Merrill in 1949. Theresa graduated from Merrill Senior High School in 1953. She then attended Marquette University in Milwaukee for one year. Theresa then transferred to Mount St. Mary’s College, Los Angeles, graduating in 1958 with a BS Degree in Biology. She worked for one year at UCLA, and then returned to Marquette University where she worked for several years in their lab. In 1972, Theresa began working with the State of Wisconsin Laboratory of Hygiene in Madison as a Microbiologist/Cytotechnologist. She retired in 2000. Her career was her focus. Theresa was passionate about ‘pro-life’ issues. She was also an adventurous individual, having completed a white water rafting trip down the Colorado River. Theresa was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Monona.
Theresa is survived by four siblings, her sister, Mary Mangold of Merrill, and three brothers, Frank (Betty) Mangold, Citrus Heights, CA, Louis (Barbara) Mangold, Whitefish Bay, WI, and Art (Celeste) Mangold, San Mateo, CA; four nieces and nephews, Kathleen (Len) VanZeeland, David Mangold, Carol Kneis, and Mary (Julian) Koegh; and five grand nieces and nephews, Sean, Dan, Maria, Brianna, and Emma Rose.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 11, 2014, at Holy Cross Chapel, Bell Tower Residence, 1500 O’Day Street, Merrill. Father Jerry Worman will preside. Burial will follow in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery, Merrill. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday at Holy Cross Chapel. The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family.
