Jack R. ?Gopher? Holl

Jack R. “Gopher” Holl, age 82, formerly of Merrill, passed away on Friday, Oct. 24, 2014, at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center, Palm Beach Gardens, FL, under the care of his family and hospice services. 
Jack was born March 22, 1932, in Merrill, son of the late Everett and Wilma (Johnson) Holl. He married Elaine M. Eckert on Jan. 20, 1962, in Pine City, MN. She preceded him in death on Jan. 7, 2012. 
Jack had worked at the Weinbrenner Shoe Company, Merrill, for over 30 years. Jack enjoyed his spring and summers camping and fishing with his wife Elaine, and enjoyed spending his falls bird and deer hunting at his shack known as the “Woodtick Lodge.” In their younger years, both Jack and Elaine enjoyed snowmobiling and snowshoeing at their cabin. Currently, Jack was residing in Loxahatchee, FL with his daughter Jo Ann, son-in-law Tommie, and his dog, Bandit. 
Jack is survived by his daughter, Jo Ann (Tommie Annillo) Holl, Loxahatchee, FL; his sister, Joyce (Bruce) Hass, Merrill; and several nieces and nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Elaine Holl; and his parents. 
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 31, at St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ, Merrill. The Rev. Kyle Carnes will officiate. Burial will follow in Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery, Merrill. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, and after 10 a.m. Friday at the church. The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
