East swims away from short-handed Bluejays

Wausau East washed over the smaller-than-usual Merrill swim team in a 139-28 meet at Wausau East last Thursday.

“We are a small team, and we were missing Alexis Kanitz and Caitlyn Kolehouse due to illness” MHS coach Lisa Siewert said. “I was most excited by Miranda Jahnke’s swim in the 100 fly. She dropped 1.5 seconds. Emily Schroeder also dropped 1.5 seconds in the 100 back and another second in the 50 free.

“I’m excited to have everybody back on time for Thursday’s meet against Wausau West. Thursday’s meet is our last home meet and we encourage everyone to come out and cheer the girls on.”

Kendyl Pettit earned the only individual third place with a :28.19 in the 50 free.

The Jays ranked third in all three relays, the 200 medley (Morgan Norton, Jahnke, Pettit, Hanna Cohrs, 2:22.33), the 200 free (Jahnke, Cohrs, Faith Wheat, Pettit, 2:00.32) and the 400 free (Cohrs, Rachel Hoeppner, Norton, Wheat, 5:06.03).
