George J. Klimek, 91, of Merrill, formerly of Independence, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014 at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.
He was born Nov. 17, 1922 in Trempealeau County, to Robert and Rose (Suchla) Klimek. He married Angeline Marsolek on Oct. 4, 1944 at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Independence.
George worked at Ladish Company in Cudahy for many years as a machine repairman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing the guitar and singing. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Angeline of Merrill; a son, John (Lana) Klimek of Merrill; and a sister, Theresa Hertzfeldt of La Crescent, MN.
George was preceded in death by a daughter, Suzanne Krohn; five brothers, Allie, Bruno, Eugene, Everett and Adrian Klimek.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18, at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence, with Very Rev. Woodrow H. Pace officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
