Hatchets romp in relays

Friday’s Hatchet Relays pitted three solid teams swimming for the gold that Tomahawk collected. THS topped Rice Lake 434-400, and Marshfield tallied 334.
“It was a great night, but we have some work to do,” THS coach Theresa L’Esperance said. “Our finishes looked tired and ragged. But we needed to see that by swimming against other teams. It is hard to judge pacing in practice.
“We had numerous improvements and will continue to build upon each race. Some new swimmers got a chance to swim and performed well. Sam Kane and  Taylor Tomaszeswki got their feet wet and Emily Verkilen and Brianna Sanders continue to improve.”
THS top-10 all-time performances came from: the 400 free relay (6th, Karli Cecil, Mikhayla Kleich, Baylee Dallman, Lauren Hilt, 3:54.71); Dallman (7th, 200 free, 2:10.47/8th, 100 free, 57.65); freshman Kristin Marcks (7th, 100 brea, 1:17.59); the 200 free relay (Rachel Dallman, Michaela Galganski, Kleich and Morgan Weber (10th, 1:48.49).
The girls also won the: 400 medley (4:27.07, Lauren Hilt, Kirstin Marcks, Katerine Russell, Weber); 850 free (9:40.01, Taylor Hansen, R. Dallman, B. Dallman, Kleich); 400 medley (5:04.4, Katherine Russell, Anna Weber, McKinley Verhulst, Channing Parkman); 200 fly (1:59.61, Karli Cecil, Russell, Hansen, Hilt); 200 back (2:02.94, Russell, B.
