Man injured in fall from tree

A 52-year-old Birnamwood man was injured after falling out of a tree on Saturday morning in the Town of Harrison.
A resident on Seven Island Lake Rd. called 911 at 10:18 a.m. to report the incident. According to the deputy’s report, the man was hired to cut down trees on the property and while he was an estimated 25 feet off the ground, the man fell to the ground. The victim was wearing a safety harness at the time but it is believed it slipped over and off the top of the tree stump.
The man was transported by Tomahawk EMS to Ministry Saint Mary’s Hospital in Rhinelander and then transferred to the trauma center at Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield where as of Sunday he is listed in fair condition.
Weather at the time prohibited flying the man from the scene, which was at first planned. The Town of Russell Fire Department assisted at the scene of the incident.
