Two injured in motorcycle crash on Hwy. 17

At approximately 2:43 p.m. on Saturday, the Lincoln County 911 Center received a call of a motorcycle crash with injuries on Hwy. 17 near Gross Lane.
According to the parties involved in the crash, as well as a witness, the two motorcycles were traveling together southbound on Hwy. 17 when the lead operator saw a group of deer standing next to the road. The operator took evasive action by braking and swerving to the left to avoid the deer. The operator of the second motorcycle was not able to respond to the first motorcycle’s movements quickly enough and therefore struck the first motorcycle.
The occupants of the second motorcycle were ejected from the bike and received minor injuries. Both were transported by Merrill Ambulance to Ministry Good Samaritan Health Center. They were identified as Dale E. Kilgore, 76, and Janet L. Kilgore, 73, both of Marion, IN. The occupants of the first motorcycle were uninjured.
Russell Fire and First Responders along with Merrill Fire Ambulance responded to the scene.
