Wins piling up for Tomahawk?s Post 93

Eleven runs was a lucky number for Tomahawk’s American Legion Post 93 baseball team last week.
Post 93 dispatched Wausau East 11-1 on Tuesday and Park Falls 11-3 on Thursday.
Tomahawk steadily built a 7-0 lead by the sixth inning of Thursday’s contest
“The guys played a really nice game and deserved this win,” Post 93 assistant coach Wes Roessler said. “This was a well-played game both defensively and offensively. The guys hit the ball well and ran the bases aggressively.
“We came up with a couple of big double plays to eliminate any chance of giving up a big inning.”
Fletcher Schoone scattered eight hits over the nine-inning stint, aided by one walk and eight strike-outs.
“Fletcher pitched a solid game,” Roessler said. “He changed speeds well and pitched very efficiently.”

Capitalizing

Tomahawk out-hit Park Falls just 8-6 in Tuesday’s game and committed two errors to none for East, but the locals ran away with the win.
A big fourth inning proved to be the major difference.
“Jordan Shilts pitched a nice game,” Roessler said. “The East hitters struggled to get things started against him.
“Both teams managed to load the bases in the first inning, we were able to push a run home and we able to keep East from scoring. That was a big moment in the game. It is a momentum killer when you load the bases with no one out and don’t score. We made some nice heads up plays to keep them from scoring.
“We were able to capitalize on the opportunities that they gave us to produce six runs in the fourth inning all with two outs.”
