Free summer lunch for kids and teens

The Free Summer Lunch for Kids and Teens is back again this year. Last year, up to 100 free lunches were served each day the free lunch was offered. The emphasis of this program is to provide a healthy lunch for kids during the summer. Included are sandwich, fruit, vegetable and juice box.
Christ United Methodist Church will again serve the free lunches every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., starting June 11. This year Trinity Lutheran Church has joined the effort and will provide free lunches every Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., starting June 12. Free lunches will be served through Aug. 28. Meals are set up at Stange’s Park Picnic Shelter off 3rd Street in Merrill.
Lunches are offered absolutely free with no questions asked. Even adults can get a meal, and are encouraged to give whatever they can in the freewill donation box.
Organizers hope to expand Free Summer Lunches for Kids and Teens with more churches and organizations becoming involved covering more days of the week or possibly different sites. Those interested may contact Shiela Drury at 715-218-3459.
