Wisconsin River Pro Rodeo supports Honor Flight

The annual Wisconsin River Pro Rodeo kicks off on June 6 in Merrill with a special test drive event that will support the Never Forgotten Honor Flight. Teaming up with Brickners Park City and the Brickner Family Auto Group a special Ram test drive event will be held on the rodeo grounds from 3:30 to 6:45 p.m.

The Brickner Family and the Wisconsin River Pro Rodeo will be sending four Lincoln County area Veterans to Washington D.C. on the honor flight this fall. Everyone that comes to the Lincoln County fairgrounds for a test drive will not only help support the honor flight but will also receive a free Ram hat as a thank you.

The Brickner Family are long time supporters of the Wisconsin River Pro Rodeo, but this year wanted to do something special in honor of the 70th Anniversary of D Day. “What better way to say thank you to our local veterans, then to be able to send four of them on this very special Honor Flight to our nation’s capital,” said Jim Brickner, owner of Brickners Park City.

The Brickner Family will also be sponsoring a coloring contest.  Kids under age 11 can bring in the coloring page to Brickners Park City in Merrill and receive a free child’s ticket to the Sunday Rodeo performance on June 8 with the purchase of an adult ticket. The coloring page can be found in this issue of the Foto News. Deadline for entry is 5 p.m. on June 6.

The Wisconsin River Pro Rodeo has been entertaining the Lincoln County area for more than 25 years. They are an award winning organization having been voted the Best Medium Sized Rodeo in 2009 and 2011; the Small Rodeo of the Year in 2011 and the Merrill Chamber of Commerce named them the 2013 Small Business of the Year. Over the last 13 years, the Lincoln County Rodeo Association has donated more than $114,000 to local non-profit groups and charities.

This year’s Rodeo takes place June 6-8 at the Lincoln County fairgrounds. Tickets are on sale at the Merrill Chamber of Commerce, Tomahawk Chamber, all Brickner Family locations, Blue Haven Stables, Duwayne Kreager Insurance, and Trig’s Food in Rhinelander, Marathon Town & Country, and Images Salon and from any of the 2014 Queen contestants.

In honor of the 70th Anniversary of D Day and this special promotion for the Honor Flight, June 6 will be Military Appreciation night at the Rodeo.
