Indoor return not such a bad thing

The Hatchet track teams were forced indoors in last Tuesday’s Eagle River Invite, but got out in Friday’s Elite Invite.
Heading back indoors hardly hurt, as the girls racked up a title while the boys ranked a solid fifth.
“We had kind of a ‘Catch 22’ with the Northland Pines meet,” THS coach John Zuelsdorf said. “It was supposed to be run outdoors, but they had a fresh inch of snow and 3’ snowbanks outlining part of the track. It was nice that the meet could be run indoors and nice for our younger athletes to compete, as they needed a meet.”
Placing first were: Hanna Meyer (long jump, 16’0”, PR/triple jump, 32’ 9”); AnnaLuz Fox (pole vault (8’0”, PR); Dani Whiting (800, 2:41.02); Claire Kuehn (3200M, 13:06, PR); Lauren Hilt (200, :30.13); Troy VanStrydonk (3200, 11:46, P.R.); 400 rel. (Meyer, Emmy Larson, Hilt, Emily Verkilen, 55.93, PR); 3200 rel. (Tyler Wittmann, Kyle Klopatek, VanStrydonk, Lucas Tjugum, 9:41, PR).
Runners-up were: Larson (TJ, 30’ 10.5”/HJ, 4’ 10”); Kyle Klopatek (3200, 11:49.65); Fox (55 HH, :10.47); Hanna Meyer (55, :07.94); 800 rel. (Kate Gaedtke, Michaela Galganski, Verkilen, Tasha Carstensen, 2:02.83); 3200 rel. (Larson, Kuehn, Dichsen, Whiting, 11:04.68); 1600 rel. (Gaedtke, Dichsen, Talyn Jones, Whiting, 4:44.19)

St. Norbert Elite

Both squads scored 29 points in Friday’s 2nd Annual St. Norbert Elite Invite, with the girls ranking 7th of 11 and the boys taking 8th of 11.
“The ‘Elite Meet’ at St Norbert’s was another opportunity for some of our top athletes to compete at one of the best facilities in Northeastern Wisconsin,” Zuelsdorf said. “The conditions were not ideal for our sprinters, hurdlers, and jumpers, but were super for a distance runner under the lights.”
Whiting pulled the only win with a 12:01 PR in the 3200M. Meyer (TJ, 32’ 5.5”) and  Gaedtke (300 lows, :53.23) grabbed  runner-up finishes. Meyer also scored 6th in the 100M (:13.68). The boys topped out at thirds from Peter Pintens (PV, 10’ 10.25”), Han McMahon (200, :25.99), and the 400M team (Pintens, McMahon, Ben Yirsa, Wyatt Schumitsch, :48.35). Yirsa (:17.88) and Schumitsch (:19.16) went 5-6 in the 110 highs, and Yirsa was 5th in the 300 ints. (:46.51).
