Lincoln County Health Department opens drinking water analysis lab

Safe, clean water is one of the most important substances in our lives – for drinking, cooking, cleaning and bathing. The Lincoln County Health Department encourages private well owners to test their wells annually or after modifying them in any way to ensure safe drinking water.
The Lincoln County Health Department now has a Wisconsin certified water lab for testing drinking water for both public and private wells. The lab has bacteria and nitrate testing capabilities. A bacteria or nitrate test is $20 and a test for bacteria and nitrates is $35. Special sampling bottles that must be used for the water testing are available for pick-up at the Lincoln County Health Department office at 607 N. Sales St., Suite 101, Merrill or at the Tomahawk Annex Office at 213 W. Wisconsin Ave., Tomahawk. Offices are open from 8 – 4:30 p.m. Monday – Friday with the Tomahawk Annex closing during the lunch hour. Drinking water samples should be taken the same day as they are brought in and can be dropped off at the Lincoln County Health Department. They will be accepting samples to be tested only Monday-Wednesday from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m.
If you have any questions or would like more information please contact the Lincoln County Health Department at 715-536-0307.
