Ruth B. Strasman, age 95, of Merrill, died Friday, April 25, 2014, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.
Ruth was born December 29, 1918, in Merrill, daughter of the late Victoria and Charles Ament. She married Bert Strasman on June 21, 1947, at St. Francis Catholic Church, Merrill. He preceded her in death on December 21, 2007.
Ruth attended St. Francis Grade School, graduated from Merrill High School, and Merrill Commercial College. She worked for Wisconsin Telephone Company, Ament and Sons Distributing, and Strand’s Department Store. Among her favorite pastimes were sewing, needlework, cooking, and watching the Packers and Brewers. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include one son, Steve (Lana) Strasman, Merrill; two grandsons, Steven J. (Karen) Strasman, Stevens Point, and Jon T. (Jeranna) Strasman , Coos Bay, OR; five great-grandchildren, Annika, Nate, Elias, Loren, and Ezra; and beloved niece Mary Jo, and nephews, Andy, Charlie, and Greg. Ruth is preceded in death by her son, James (Jim) Strasman, her husband, Bert Strasmann, two brothers and their spouses, Bud (Shirley) and Shorty (Peg) Ament, and one sister, Jo Rostal, and her husband, Gordy.

Memorials may be given on Ruth’s behalf to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Parish, Lincoln County Humane Society, or Lincoln Industries.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Merrill. Father Michael McLain is presiding. Burial will follow in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery, Merrill. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Monday at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill.
