Marilyn A. Fletcher

Marilyn A. Fletcher, age 78, of Merrill, passed away Monday, April 7, 2014 at Ministry Good Samaritan Health Center. 
She was born Sept. 22, 1935 in Mosinee to the late Wesley and Ethel (Klatt) Fletcher. She and Walter Sczygelski Sr. were united in marriage on April 23, 1955 in Wausau. He preceded her in death May 16, 1997.
Marilyn worked in farming in her early years. She had also worked at House of Merrill, Stokley, Weinbrenner and retired from Northern Wire in 1997. Marilyn enjoyed spending time with her family – children, brothers and sisters- playing cribbage and sheep head. She taught many people how to crochet and knit and was very patient. Marilyn enjoyed her grandchildren and children and loved spending time with them. She also enjoyed playing pool and socializing. Marilyn was a people person and enjoyed getting to know anyone and everyone.
Survivors include her five sons: Walter (Joanne) Sczygelski, Merrill, Wesley (Kyra) Sczygelski, Sandy, OR, Howard (Michelle) Sczygelski, William Sczygelski and Monty (Joanne) Sczygelski, all of Merrill; three daughters: Linda Works, Merrill, Twyla Sczygelski, Wausau, and Chansa (Mark) Frederick, Merrill; 25 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Linda Fletcher, Mosinee; brother, William (Gail) Fletcher, Mosinee; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley & Ethel Fletcher; brother, Howard Fletcher; sisters, Mona (Paul) Sitko and Virginia (Barney) King; and one son, Leon Sczygelski.
A memorial liturgy was held Friday, April 11, at Waid Funeral Home. Father Joseph Kleinheinz officiated. 
Many thanks to all the staff at Good Samaritan and Pine Crest Nursing Home. Pine Crest – you will be forever in her heart and ours. Many thanks to all the friends at Pine Crest that she spent time with every day.
