Lincoln County Sheriff?s reports, 4-9-14 edition

A 44-year-old Tripoli man was arrested Monday morning on charges after deputies responded to a disturbance in the Town of Somo. Just after 10:30 a.m., a caller reported the incident on Carpenter Rd. Deputies took the man into custody on charges of disorderly conduct, battery and bail jumping for violating terms of a bond in Lincoln County Court. The man was brought to the Lincoln County Jail where he was held for a bond hearing on Tuesday; there he was released on a signature bond.

A 22-year-old Merrill man is in the Marathon County Jail but will face felony charges in Lincoln County after deputies investigated a theft on Tuesday afternoon in the Town of Merrill. Deputies responded to the complaint on Garissa Rd. in which two firearms were stolen. Lincoln County deputies developed one suspect in the matter and alerted neighboring law enforcement to be on the lookout for the man. A short time later, Marathon County authorities reported they had already taken the man into custody on charges related to methamphetamine possession after they found him coming out of a known drug house in Wausau. At a bond hearing in Marathon County, the man was held in lieu of a cash bond. He will face charges in Lincoln County including felony theft of a firearm and felony bail jumping. The man was arrested two weeks ago on charges including battery and physical abuse of a child in Lincoln County and violated terms of a signature bond he was given in Lincoln County Court.  

A traffic stop on Saturday evening led to the arrest of four people. A deputy stopped a vehicle on North Sales Street in the City of Merrill for equipment violations. A K9 unit from the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene and the dog indicated on the vehicle. As a result of this and a subsequent search of the vehicle and its passengers, a 17-year-old Merrill man was arrested on charges of possessing drug paraphernalia after a syringe and an empty drug package were found in his sock. When a deputy was searching a second passenger, a 20-year-old Merrill man, a pipe used to ingest methamphetamine fell out of his coat, leading to charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia.  Deputies are also awaiting a blood test on the driver, a 23-year-old Merrill woman, after she admitted to consuming methamphetamine about two hours before her vehicle was stopped. She may face citations for operating under the influence of a restricted controlled substance. She was arrested for possession of an illegally obtained prescription.  A fourth passenger, a 29-year-old Merrill man, was arrested for violating terms of his probation by being in the presence of others using or possessing drugs. The 23-year-old driver and the 20-year-old passenger await bond hearings on Monday afternoon in Lincoln County Court.  The 17-year-old posted a cash bond and was released.

A 52-year-old Merrill man was arrested Saturday evening on a criminal traffic charge. A deputy stopped a vehicle on E. 1st Street at Mill Street in the City of Merrill after a 911 caller reported they were following a vehicle that was continuously crossing the center line while they were behind it in the Town of Pine River. The deputy noted the odor of an intoxicant and asked the driver to submit to field sobriety tests. As a result of those tests, the man was taken into custody on a second offense charge of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. He was later released to a responsible party.  

The number of car deer crashes is back down with only four being reported this past week.
