A community outreach celebration is planned

The public is invited to join in a gathering of over 40 local ministries and non-profit organizations serving the Northwoods. The event will take place Saturday, April 26 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Tomahawk School Complex. There will be music, fellowship, children’s activities and food at this free event.

This unique event was designed to foster a better sense of community and was planned with three purposes in mind. First, to inform and share the many resources that are available to those that are in need or at-risk in our community. Second, to provide an opportunity for these organizations to recruit new volunteers/members, and at the same time allow for those seeking to share their talents and gifts to “plug in” to one or more of these organizations. And third, to show honor and support to these ministries and organizations that make our community a better place to live.

Tables will be set up and manned by around 40 non-profit organizations that are dedicated to serving the Tomahawk, Minocqua, Merrill and Rhinelander areas. They will use this time for general information sharing as well as registering people for services they provide.
In the auditorium inspirational music will be provided by various local church music ministries, as well as talks and testimonies of how many of these organizations are making a difference in the lives of people in our community.

There will also be puppetry and face painting to entertain the young children and the local soup kitchen will be serving up soup, bread and desserts in the cafeteria.

The event was planned and supported by a combined effort from local churches, Northwoods Vineyard, Grace Lutheran, St. Mary’s Catholic, Prince of Peace, Log Church, United Methodist and St. Paul’s Lutheran.
