The Merrill High School Bands will present their next concert of chamber music on Monday, Feb. 17. The concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the MHS Auditorium, and admission is free.
The concert will feature smaller groups of students from the Symphonic Band, directed by Elli Kaetterhenry, and the Wind Ensemble, directed by Kevin Short. They will be broken down into like-instrument families, such as Woodwind Choir, Brass Choir, and Percussion Ensemble. The music will include arrangements from many different periods and styles in music history, and is chosen from the Wisconsin School Music Association contest list. These student ensembles are preparing for performances in the District Solo & Ensemble Festival.
In conjunction with the concert, the Merrill Band Endowment will be holding a “Dinner, Dessert, and a Concert” at 3’s Company, located at 3201 E. Main St. in Merrill. A portion of the proceeds from their sales on Monday, Feb. 17 will be donated to the Band Endowment for music scholarships.
