Hojan named Youth Optimist of the Month

The Merrill Noon Optimists have chosen Lauren Hojan as the Youth Optimist for the month of December. Lauren was nominated by Ms. Melissa Yuska, who has written that, “Lauren always has a smile on her face, is full of life and is a very kindhearted young lady who tries to see the positives in all she does as well as make a positive impact on the people around her.” Ms. Yuska goes on to say, “Lauren is always willing to do what is asked of her and makes an impact on others while doing it. She believes in being your best and wants others to do the same. The greatest trait Lauren possesses is her endless optimism – she constantly believes she can succeed in every endeavor. This positive attitude consistently makes an impact on each and every person she knows.”
Lauren’s current class rank is 74 of 254 and her GPA is 3.4. She has enrolled in Honors Composition, Honors American Literature and Composition, AP Literature and Composition, Honors Chemistry, Advanced Ceramics and 3D and Pre Calculus. She participated in Volleyball, Basketball and Track receiving Varsity letters in each. Lauren is part of Link Crew, Octagon Club, Special Olympics, Drills for Skills camp volunteer, among many other activities.
When not at school, Lauren is involved in 4-H, showing pigs, fair projects, working concessions for horse shows and volunteer for June Dairy Breakfast. She also has provided lawn care and babysitting.
Lauren’s plans after high school are to attend UW-Eau Claire to earn a degree in Biology and also apply for dental school. Lauren is the daughter of Joe and Dawn Hojan.
